Partnership-wide and Steering Committee Meeting

Event Description: Join us for an information packed meeting in Monterrey, Mexico! There will be tours of active projects in all four sectors on 27 January. Technical workshops in all sectors will be held on 28 January. These sessions will discuss the latest advances in methane capture and use. The Steering Committee will meet on 27-28 January and Technical Subcommittees will meet on 29 of January.

Minerales Monclova S.A. (Mimosa)
PLEASE NOTE BECAUSE OF THE DISTANCE TO THE COAL MINE, THIS TOUR WILL DEPART AT 06:00 AND WILL RETURN AT 21:00.
• Location: Nueva Rosita, Coahuila
• Journey: 4 hrs approx.
• Minerales Monclova, S.A. DE C.V. is the largest coal producer in Mexico. The company's mining area is situated in Coahuila state, mainly over the Sabinas and Rosita basin, across 7 operational mines. The coal production in 2005 was 2.8 million tonnes and 4 million in 2006. The mined coal is entirely used by Altos Hornos de Mexico for the production of steel.

Landfill Site Tour
Monterrey Landfill (SIMEPRODE)
• Location: Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León.
• Journey: 1 hr and 30 min approx.
• First biogas recovery and electricity generation project in Latin America, Inaugurated in may 2003 with an Initial capacity of 7,420 MW. In September of this year the President of Mexico, Mr. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa inaugurated the second phase of the generation plant (Monterrey II) to reach a generation capacity of 12.5 MW.

Burgos Gas Processing Complex of PEMEX
• Location: Reynosa, Tamaulipas
• Journey: 2 hrs approx.
• The Subsidiary Pemex Gas y Petroquímica Básica started its operation in 1955. Its principal activities are to process the extracted gas and its condensation. The site tour will include Field Demonstration of Technologies for Leak Detection, and Measurement and Quantification of Methane Emissions
