This image shows a model of one of three detectors for the Mid-Infrared
Instrument on NASA's upcoming James Webb Space Telescope. The detector,
which looks green in this picture, and is similar to the charge-coupled
devices, or "CCDs," in digital cameras, is housed in the brick-like unit
shown here, called a focal plane module.
