Yellow Ribbon program focuses on helping reservists, families
TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Air Force reservists in the 507th Air Refueling Wing who return from long deployments are finding the welcome mat waiting for them.
A congressional directive in the 2007 Defense Appropriations Act mandated that reserve components provide reservists and their families with additional deployment support and reintegration programs.

Program helps welcome troops, families 'home' after deployment
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command has a new office charged with ensuring deploying reservists and their families are well taken care of.
The Office of Deployment Cycle Support manages the command's Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program.
"The program helps Airmen and their families face the challenges of deployment," said Col. Mary Hill, DCS director.

New RED HORSE unit heads for starting gate
CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Airmen in the 315th Civil Engineer Squadron now have authority to stand up the Air Force Reserve's newest RED HORSE squadron.
"This is a total force initiative," said Lt. Col. Cindy Lundhagen, who will serve as deputy commander of the 560th Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron.

Selfridge reservists relocate to Andrews before they retire
ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. -- When a Michigan Air National Guard KC-135 arrived here recently, it delivered an unusual package to Liberator Wing - 59 new members. The 459th Air Refueling Wing's recent arrivals are all former members of Air Force Reserve Command's 927th ARW.

Diversity council meets in Atlanta
ATLANTA -- Nearly 250 Total Force Airmen met in downtown Atlanta Oct. 28 at the bi-annual Air Force Reserve Command Human Resources Development Council.
Formed in 1991, the three-day workshop is a multi-tiered initiative that allows traditional reservists, Active Guard and Reserve reservists, air reserve technicians and civilians a chance to learn about current issues affecting human resources and diversity within the command.

Reservists receive executive service awards
WASHINGTON -- Two number air force commanders in Air Force Reserve Command received Meritorious Executive awards in October.
Maj. Gen. Robert E. Duignan, 4th Air Force commander, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., and Maj. Gen. Martin M. Mazick, 22nd Air Force commander, Dobbins ARB, Ga., were among 353 leaders from 30 federal agencies recognized by the president.

CAC login makes access easier for reservists
DENVER -- Air Reserve Personnel Center officials here launched a new enhancement Oct. 30 that allows Airmen to log into the virtual Personnel Center-Guard and Reserve using their Common Access Card.
Being able to open their vPC-GR account with their CAC means Airmen no longer need to remember another password.
