Welcome to the Smithsonian
Asian Pacific American Program!

In just 10 short years, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program has had significant impact on how the Smithsonian, the world's largest museum complex, is evolving to better reflect the diversity of our nation of immigrants and indigenous peoples.

Since 1997, the Asian Pacific American Program has provided vision, leadership, and support for Asian Pacific American (APA) activities at the Smithsonian, while also serving as the Smithsonian's liaison to APA communities.

Through exhibitions, programs, research, and collaborations, the Program works to incorporate the experiences of APAs in all aspects of Smithsonian work, improve the public's appreciation of the roles of Asian Pacific Americans in the history of the nation, and empower Asian Pacific American communities by increasing their sense of inclusion in the national culture.
