Division of High School, Postsecondary and Career Education

The Division of High School, Postsecondary, and Career Education (DHSPCE) invites individuals to apply to serve as field readers (peer reviewers) to evaluate grant applications submitted to DHSPCE programs under competitive funding processes.

DHSPCE administers a wide range of programs designed to improve the quality of high school, postsecondary and career education. Field readers will review applications submitted under these programs according to applicable criteria for each program.

Expectations

Field readers may be asked to evaluate applications where they reside/work or may be asked to serve on panels meeting in Washington, DC or other designated locations. When readers are asked to review applications where they reside/work, they will be mailed applications and materials, receive orientation by telephone conference call, assigned to a specific review panel, and given a set period of time to review applications and return rating materials to Washington, DC. They will then participate in conference calls to finalize the ratings of the applications. When reviewers come to Washington or other designated locations to conduct reviews, these procedures will be carried out face-to-face.

It is possible that some reviews may require that field readers have access to a computer with Internet capability. Prospective field readers should indicate whether or not they have such capability.

Qualifications

DHSPCE is seeking experienced and knowledgeable professionals in a wide variety of academic subjects and education specializations, in sponsored research, and in research on education.
