Ronald Meisburg

Ronald Meisburg was nominated by President Bush in July 2005 and confirmed by the Senate on August 3, 2006 to serve as General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for 4 years. He had been serving as General Counsel under a recess appointment by the President since January 4, 2006.

Mr. Meisburg previously served under a recess appointment by President Bush as a Member of the Board from January 12, 2004 to December 8, 2004. In the interim, he served as Special Assistant to the NLRB's Associate General Counsel for Enforcement and as Executive Assistant to the NLRB's Deputy General Counsel. From 1980-2003, Mr. Meisburg was in the private practice of labor law in Washington, D.C., most recently as a shareholder in the firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart. Earlier in his career, he served at the Department of Labor in the Office of the Solicitor of Labor, and in the divisions of Employee Benefits and Mine Safety and Health. He received his B.A. degree from Carson-Newman College and his J.D. degree from the University of Louisville.

Mr. Meisburg was president of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation (1994 - 1995); a member of the Employment Lawyers advisory Council of the National Association of Manufacturers (1996 - 1998); and a member of the Industrial Relations committee of the U.S. Council for International Business (1993 -1998).
