DOD Supply Chain Management
Problem:
The DoD must continue to make improvement in supply chain management.
Goal:
Ensure continuous improvement in the area of Supply Chain Management by continuing to implement key joint logistics initiatives, utilize a roadmap for identifying and synchronizing future improvement recommendations, and implement Supply & Storage Base Realignment and Closure.

Continue to implement initiatives identified in the DoD Supply Chain Management High Risk Improvement Plan and monitor supply chain improvements through agreed upon metrics.

Initiatives include: Radio Frequency Identification, Item Unique Identification, Joint Regional Inventory Materiel Management, Readiness Based Sparing, and Defense Transportation Coordination Initiative.

Metrics include: Materiel Availability, Perfect Order Fulfillment, and Customer Wait Time.

Published DoD Logistics Roadmap in July 2008 to:

Determine whether current policies, initiatives, and programs will lead to successful outcomes.

Identify gaps, shortfalls, timing issues, and challenges.

Provide senior leaders with recommended policy changes and improvement efforts, including initiatives or programs to resolve gaps/shortfalls.

Implement the Supply & Storage Base Realignment and Closure
