Mission Statement of BlazeSports Clubs of America

“To maximize the potential of people
with physical disability through sport”

What is BlazeSports Club of America?  BlazeSports Clubs of America, a national community based sports and fitness program for children and adults with physical disability, is a direct legacy of the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics is a multi-level sports program of instruction, competitions, teams, camps and education.

What sports are offered by BlazeSports?  A list of current programs and clinics can be found by clicking on the appropriate prompt in the outline to the left.

What disabilities are served through BlazeSports?  BlazeSports offers programs for children and adults who use wheelchairs, have visual impairments, have an amputation or neurological/muscular impairment, such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and others.

How and when did BlazeSports begin?  BlazeSports began as a model program in the State of Georgia, BlazeSports Georgia, in 1998 in partnership with the Georgia Recreation and Park Association.  It quickly became a multi-level program offering year round community programs, state level sports camps, clinics and competitions, competitive teams, and educational programs.

When did the program expand nationally?  In spring 2002, BlazeSports Clubs of America was launched by USDAF in partnership with the National Recreation And Park Association.  In 2003, 32 community programs are located in 11 states.  Plans call for adding ten programs each year for the next several years.
