Facilities and Trails

The visitor center and associated outdoor exhibit area are fully wheelchair accessible. The Ponderosa Loop Trail, a self-guided 1/2 mile trail is also fully accessible, although may be covered by snow in the winter.

The Monument has a non-motorized wheelchair with large, inflatable tires that can be requested and borrowed for daily use.

Film

The Monument's 15 minute orientation film is shown in the Monument's accessible theater which is in the visitor center. The film has subtitles. Assisted listening and audio description devices are available upon request.

Did You Know?
Fossil remains of a brontothere, a rhinocerous-like creature, have been found in the Florissant fossil beds.
