Promoting and Improving Health
JSI and its staff are dedicated to improving the health of individuals
and communities throughout the world. We believe that all people
are entitled to accessible, appropriate quality health care.
To make this vision a reality JSI applies practical and innovative
solutions in management, research, education, information and
training.
The Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program is running an innovative statewide free nicotine patch campaign, from July 1 through August 31, 2008, to help smokers quit smoking. As a result of these efforts, the JSI-run Smokers Quitline has seen a dramatic increase in calls. JSI's trained tobacco treatment specialists are taking calls and providing assistance to adult tobacco users. There has already been an overwhelming response to the time-limited campaign which has in just a few short weeks, served over 7,000 clients. Calls to the Quitline have increased over twentyfold in July.
