Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual and appoint three individuals to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Gretchen C.F. Shappert of North Carolina, to be United States Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina for a four-year term. Ms. Shappert currently is Assistant United States Attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina. Previously, she served as Assistant District Attorney and as Assistant Public Defender for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Ms. Shappert also served as Associate Attorney for Tucker, Hicks, Sentelle, Moon & Hodge Law Firm in Charlotte. She earned her bachelor's degree from Duke University and her J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law.

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council:

The President intends to appoint Howard L. Ganek of New York, for the remainder of a five-year term expiring January 15, 2008.

The President intends to appoint Phyllis G. Heideman of Maryland, for the remainder of a five-year term expiring January 15, 2008.

The President intends to appoint Harlan D. Hockenberg of Iowa, for the remainder of a five-year term expiring January 15, 2006.
