Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate John E. Herbst of Virginia, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine. Ambassador Herbst is currently the United States Ambassador to Uzbekistan. Previously, he served as Consul General for the United States Consulate in Jerusalem. Ambassador Herbst also served the United States Embassy in Moscow as a Political Officer. He earned his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies Bologna Center. Ambassador Herbst earned his M.A.L.D. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
