Reentry

CCDO knows that the high-crime/high-risk areas that become Weed and Seed sites have large numbers of returning offenders who will become reinvolved in crime unless there is a focused effort to control reentry through supervision and support services. Some of the initiatives that CCDO supports include the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative, a special emphasis site for reentry, and the VISTA Reentry Initiative.

Faith-Based

CCDO encourages all sites to collaborate with faith-based and community groups as they build coalitions and partnerships to prevent crime and strengthen neighborhoods. CCDO has a number of faith-based subgrantees and success stories of faith-based groups working with Weed and Seed sites.

American Indian/Alaska Native

The American Indian/Alaska Native Affairs Desk, housed in CCDO, coordinates training and technical assistance, advises OJP leadership on Indian Country matters, and directs Indian tribes, tribal communities, and Alaska Native villages to funding opportunities and other resources.

Public Housing Safety Initiative

CCDO and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have joined together in the Public Housing Safety Initiative to assist in the investigation, prosecution, and prevention of violent crimes and drug offenses in public and federally assisted housing, including American Indian housing.

Partnerships

CCDO aims to dramatically expand the level of public and private partnership models that build and sustain local capacity to create safe, thriving communities. CCDO is currently engaged in ongoing partnerships with the Internal Revenue Service, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, U.S. Navy, and Corporation for National and Community Service.
