Description: Prepared by the Library of Congress Federal Research Division, these studies describe and analyze the political, economic, social, and national security systems and institutions for over 100 countries and regions. These studies further examine the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors. A continuing series of books published between 1988 and 1998 and prepared by FRD under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the Department of the Army.
