ORLANDO, Fla. -- All FEMA and state disaster offices and services—the application line, Helpline, Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) and the Disaster Field Office News Desk—will be closed on Thursday, November 25, Thanksgiving Day.

All offices and services will reopen on Friday, November 26, and continue to help applicants for disaster assistance.

The regular schedule is:

The application line and Helpline, at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), accept calls seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight. The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired.

The 42 DRCs throughout the state continue to assist individuals and business owners on a one-to-one basis. They are open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
