Okaloosa County Center Changes Hours For County Fair

ORLANDO, Fla. -- State and federal officials announce that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Okaloosa County will amend its hours for the County Fair in Crestview, week ending November 13. The DRC located at the Spanish Trail Fairgrounds is scheduled to close at 5 p.m., Friday, November 12, remain closed all day Saturday and resume normal hours of operation Monday, November 15.

The remaining 40 DRCs will continue be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. statewide, Monday through Saturday to serve those in need.

Floridians affected by the recent hurricanes are still urged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. After applying, those who have questions may visit a center to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists.

Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies, as well as loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration, will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
