ORLANDO, Fla. -- In addition to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) registration number, 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing/speech-impaired, Florida Panhandle victims of Hurricane Ivan may find the following important phone numbers applicable and useful:

FEMA and State Emergency Response Team (SERT) officials also remind victims to contact local county and city building inspectors to assure repair work is accomplished in accordance with applicable building and zoning codes.

Also, consider checking local Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) for conformity with adopted floodplain management ordinances.

The State Emergency Response Team (SERT) is a collaboration of Florida’s state agencies led by the state coordinating officer. SERT’s mission is to ensure that Florida is prepared to respond to emergencies, recover from them, and mitigate their impact. On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
