San Francisco, CA -- Nearly 1,600 Big Island flood victims have registered for assistance through FEMA's toll-free Teleregistration number as of close of business, Thursday, December 14, 2000.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved over $3.8 million in low-interest disaster loans.
To date, nearly 800 FEMA temporary disaster housing checks totaling almost $1.7 million have been issued to flood victims requiring rental assistance or minimal repairs to their homes.

Approximately 1,200 flood victims have visited the Hilo Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) seeking recovery and assistance information. The center will close at 6 p.m. today.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance is available to eligible applicants impacted by the October 28 to November 2 storms and flooding on the Big Island through the Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
