Files are kept in office suites that are locked after working
hours.
These records are maintained as long as the case is open in the office
handling the claim. Upon conclusion of the matter, files are retained for two
years and then transferred to the Federal Records Center for three years and
then destroyed.

information about them, should contact the appropriate system manager. Such

claim and describe as specifically as possible the records sought. The inquirer
should furnish the following information:

b. Date and place of the loss
c. Claim number assigned to claim (if known)
