NACMCF to Hold Public Meetings
The National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods will hold public meetings June 4 - 8.

The full committee will meet on June 4, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and on June 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the conference room at the south end of the USDA South Building cafeteria, 1400 Independence Ave, SW., Washington, D.C.

The Subcommittee on Determination of Cooking Parameters for Safe Seafood for Consumers will meet on June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Subcommittee on Determination of the Most Appropriate Technologies for FSIS to Adopt in Performing Routine and Baseline Microbiological Analyses will meet on June 5 and 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Subcommittee on Assessment of the Food Safety Importance of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis will meet on June 6 and 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All subcommittee meetings will be held in Room 369 of the Aerospace Building, 901 D St., SW., Washington, D.C.

Office of Food Safety to Hold Codex Public Meeting
USDA's Office of Food Safety will hold a public meeting on June 5. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft U.S. positions that will be discussed at the 30th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), which will be held from July 2-7, in Rome, Italy.

The public meeting will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., in Room 107-A, Jamie L. Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Avenue SW., Washington, D.C.

Agenda items and documents relating to the 30th Session of CAC will be available on the Codex Alimentarius Web site at https://webarchive.library.unt.edu/eot2008/20081031020607/http://www.codexalimentarius.net/current.asp.

Interested parties should submit their comments relating to the meeting notice. Comments may be submitted by e-mail to USCodex@fsis.usda.gov.

FSIS Announces June Regulatory Education Sessions
FSIS has scheduled regulatory education sessions in North Carolina and Arkansas in June for the owners and operators of small and very small plants.

A session will be held June 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Holiday Inn, Crabtree Valley Hotel, 4100 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC, 27612. The session will cover a regulatory walk-through of sanitation performance standard regulations and food defense.

On June 20, a session will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Springdale, 1500 S. 48th Street, Springdale, AR, 72762. This session will cover a regulatory walk-through of sanitation standard operating procedures, and hazard analysis and critical control point and rules of practice regulations.

FSIS has cancelled a regulatory education session scheduled for June 9 in Maryland.

FSIS Issues Directive on Executing Verification Activities under Export Verification Programs
FSIS issued Notice 33-07 on May 30 to ensure that inspection program personnel are following all steps in Notice 19-06, Revised Notice for Certifying Beef Products under Export Verification (EV) Programs.

Inspection program personnel who are asked to sign an export certificate at a third-party facility (e.g., a cold storage warehouse or other facility where the products to be exported are not processed) should be particularly aware of the verification activities that they are to perform.

Third-party facilities assemble and export products that they receive from other establishments or facilities, which may have been produced under an EV program. Inspection program personnel should verify that the establishment that supplied the product to the third-party facility is eligible to produce product under an EV program and that the product is eligible to be exported to the country listed on the export certificate (see FSIS Notice 19-06).

FSIS Makes Form 10,240.1 Available Online
FSIS issued a Federal Register notice on May 31 to announce the availability of an electronic Web-based version of FSIS Form 10,240-1, Production Information on Post-Lethality Exposed Ready-to-Eat Products. This form is available for the first time for online submission.

Form 10,240-1 will be used to collect information about the ready-to-eat products produced by establishments.

Preliminary IKE Scenario Available Online
FSIS has made preliminary Interactive Knowledge Exchange (IKE) scenario 02D-07, FSIS Verification of 9 CFR 416.2(d) Regarding Frozen Condensate in Product Freezers, available for comment through June 8.

This scenario addresses what inspection program personnel should consider when verifying compliance with 9 Code of Federal Regulations 416.2(d), Ventilation.
