BENNETT: PASSAGE OF FINANCIAL RESCUE PLAN IS CRITICAL TO THE ECONOMY
Senator Bob Bennett (R-Utah) made the following comments on Friday, October 3, 2008 after the House of Representatives successfully passed the financial rescue plan to address the financial crisis facing our country:
“I applaud the House of Representatives for rising to the occasion and doing what is in the best interest of the country. The 1.2 trillion dollar loss in the stock market on Monday served as a stark reminder of the severity of this crisis. This bill is not the answer to all of our economic problems, but is a critical step in the right direction to stabilize our credit market and restore confidence so ordinary Americans can keep their businesses open, collect paychecks and obtain loans.”

Senator Bob Bennett, ranking member on the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, joined Senator Dianne Feinstein, Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi today to pick up hammers and symbolically begin the construction of the 2009 inaugural platform.
