Ms. Myers is the Regional Women's Health Coordinator for Region III. The U.S. Public Health Region III serves the states of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Ms. Myers is a captain in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and a masters-prepared adult nurse practitioner with more than thirty years of experience in clinical practice including women's health, public health administration, education, and research.
Ms. Myers received her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing from the American University in Washington, D.C. and Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ respectively. Ms. Myers has collaborated with federal, state, and local agencies in providing educational programs aimed at health promotion and disease prevention. She has also developed videos to train federal employees in the prevention of occupationally acquired HIV, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B. She has been a lobbyist for the North Dakota Nurses' Association on a number of health care issues. In addition, she developed a tool to assist health care providers in the assessment of victims of domestic violence.
In the position of regional women's health coordinator, Ms. Myers has the opportunity to have a positive impact on the health of women in Region III and nationally. The health of women is a vital regional and national resource that must be promoted through the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local organizations. The promotion of healthy lifestyles throughout the lifespan of women is one of Ms. Myers' area of expertise and interest, and an area, which she gives much emphasis.
Ms Myers is a member of the American Nurses' Association, the Florida State Nurses' Association, The Uniformed Nurse Practitioner Association, Sigma Theta Tau, Hispanic Nurses' Association, and the U.S. Public Health Officer Association.
