Everglades National Park has an active volunteer program. Often there are more than 200 volunteers participating in a variety of positions. The majority of volunteer positions are available from November through April; however, some are open all year. The types of positions vary greatly and may include clerical, skilled and unskilled maintenance, trail trimming, beach clean-up, biology and hydrology data collection, exotic plant removal, visitor contact on walking trails or at visitor centers, and environmental education assistance. Read about volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups.
Volunteers are provided with uniform shirts and hats. On-site training covering work duties and park natural and cultural resources is provided. Volunteers gain work experience and an opportunity to learn about and experience South Florida’s many diverse ecosystems.
