KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- More than $5.22 million has been approved in disaster recovery aid in Missouri for homeowners, renters, business owners and local governments suffering damage from the severe storms and flooding in Missouri May 5-18. The following summary from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency is as of 7 a.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2007:

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
