Charleston, WV -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and West Virginia Office of Emergency Services officials continue response and recovery efforts for those affected by the severe winter storms Feb. 16.

More than $2.5 million has been approved for the Individual and Households Assistance Program (IHP) that includes Housing Assistance (HA) and Other Needs Assistance (ONA). HA may include lodging expense reimbursement, repair assistance and temporary rental assistance. ONA may include medical, dental and funeral expenses; furniture, clothing and some appliances; vehicle costs (up to state limits); and other eligible expenses.

County breakdown of IHP awards follows:

Financial assistance in the amount of $578,640 has been obligated to repair or replace disaster-damaged public facilities through FEMA's Public Assistance program. The obligated funds are for 72 project worksheets.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $572,600 for home and business loans.

Two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will open in Mercer and Calhoun Counties. DRCs are designed to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their needs with personnel from state, federal and voluntary organizations who can answer questions and provide recovery information about various programs available to individuals and business owners.
