Finding Out What the Patient Knows

Medical Student: What do you know about heart disease? Let's start there.

Patient: Uh...

Medical Student: What do you know? What does heart disease mean to you?

Patient: I guess, folks who party a lot, drink a lot of liquor, may have heart attacks. People who are really fat, may have heart attacks.

Medical Student: Okay…

Patient: Old Age

Medical Student: Okay…

Patient: but my friend was not old, she was only a couple of years older than me. So….

Medical Student: It doesn't sound like she did.
