BATON ROUGE, La. -- Residents and business owners in St. Helena Parish now may stop by the Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Greensburg through Saturday, Sept. 20, to get answers to their disaster assistance questions and check on the status of their applications.
Customer service representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state and other agencies staff the center, which is located at 247 Industrial Park Road, Greensburg, La. 70441.
All DRCs are open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice, according to FEMA.
This brings the total of open DRCs to nine. Additional centers will be announced as they become available. Applicants may visit any DRC, not just the ones located within their parishes.
It's best if homeowners, renters and business owners affected by Hurricane Gustav or Hurricane Ike register for assistance before visiting a DRC to help reduce wait time. People in designated parishes who were impacted by both hurricanes must register twice, once for each disaster.
Due to high call volume, officials encourage those individuals who have computer access to the Internet to register online at www.fema.gov. Residents also may register by calling the telephone registration line, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585).
Telephone and online registration are available 24 hours a day seven days a week until further notice; however, callers will have less wait time if they call during off-peak hours or on a Sunday.

An SBA customer service representative can meet individually with each applicant to provide assistance in completing his or her disaster loan application and to accept completed disaster loan applications. Returning the applications is a key part of the disaster recovery process even for individuals who do not want a loan.
