Changes In FEMA's Registration Line

San Juan, PR -- Disaster recovery officials announced that effective today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) National Teleregistration Center and the Helpline operational hours would be Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents in the declared municipalities of Puerto Rico who were affected by the May 6 - 11 floods and mudslides may call the toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029. Hearing and speech impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.
"Next Monday, July 16 is the last day to register for most federal and commonwealth disaster assistance programs. Therefore, we urge those residents who have not done so to register as soon as possible," said Justo Hernández, federal coordinating officer for the recovery efforts.
FEMA established the Helpline for those affected by the floods with disaster assistance inquiries, such disaster assistance programs, and the status of their registration for aid. In addition, disaster aid applicants can contact the Helpline to report changes to their application or the place where they can be reached. Helpline representatives are available at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY: 1-800-660-8005).
The following municipalities became eligible for federal disaster assistance as a result of the presidential disaster declaration issued by President Bush on May 16: Adjuntas, Cabo Rojo, Guánica, Guayanilla, Lajas, Rincón, San Germán, Sabana Grande and Yauco.
