Cerro Grande Pays More Than $161.5 Million

SANTA FE, N.M. -- Under the Cerro Grande Fire Claims Act 9,900 claims were paid for a total of $161,570,916. During this past week, 920 partial and full payments were issued for a total of $7.9 million.

Customer Service Center Visits
There have been a total of 46,499 visits to Service Centers in Los Alamos, White Rock, and Espanola. A total of 15,670 Notices of Loss from the Cerro Grande Fire claimants have been submitted.
The Office of Cerro Grande Fire Claims Service Center in Espanola will close July 20. Those who wish to file a Notice of Loss resulting from the May 20, 2000 Cerro Grande Fire may do so by calling the toll-free teleregistration number, 888-748-1853. The closing date for filing a Notice of Loss is August 28, 2002.
