One Year Anniversary Of Disaster Declaration

DENTON, TEXAS -- Thursday, August 30, marks the one year anniversary of the Presidential disaster declaration for New Mexico residents and business owners in Doña Ana and Otero counties in New Mexico.

Public Assistance also was made available for Cibola, Doña Ana, Grant, Guadalupe, Harding, Hidalgo, Lincoln, Luna, McKinley, Mora, Otero, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Sierra, Socorro, Taos, Torrance and Valencia Counties. This assistance was made available on a cost-sharing basis to state and local governments to help with the cost of road and bridge repair, building repairs, and reimbursement for emergency services. The assistance was provided at 75 percent Federal funding.

Federal funding was also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Disaster Recovery Summary:

FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
