One Year Anniversary Of Disaster Declaration

DENTON, TEXAS -- Thursday, August 30, marks the one year anniversary of the Presidential disaster declaration for New Mexico residents and business owners in Doña Ana and Otero counties in New Mexico.
Public Assistance also was made available for Cibola, Doña Ana, Grant, Guadalupe, Harding, Hidalgo, Lincoln, Luna, McKinley, Mora, Otero, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Sierra, Socorro, Taos, Torrance and Valencia Counties. This assistance was made available on a cost-sharing basis to state and local governments to help with the cost of road and bridge repair, building repairs, and reimbursement for emergency services. The assistance was provided at 75 percent Federal funding.
Federal funding was also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Disaster Recovery Summary:
- 1,526 individuals registered for Individual Assistance.
- $1,734,450 has been approved through the Individuals and Household Program. Of that, FEMA has provided $1,077,205 in Individual Assistance and $657,245 in Other Needs Assistance.
- $3.1 million in loans has been approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for individuals and businesses affected by the flooding.
- $31,499,132 in Public Assistance has been obligated by FEMA to the State of New Mexico to reimburse local governments and agencies for eligible and documented expenses related to emergency protective measures, debris removal and infrastructure repairs associated with the flooding.
FEMA coordinates the federal governments role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
