Boston, MA -- The Town of East Haven will host a Project Impact Signing Ceremony as a formal commitment to making their communities disaster- resistant. The Town of East Haven is geographically vulnerable to a variety of hazards such as hurricanes, coastal and inland flooding, nor'easters, ice storms, and coastal erosion that have caused threats to life, property damages, and the disruption of human services. The Town has adopted pro-active mitigation measures prior to a natural hazard event as a critical emergency management-planning tool.

Every year disasters cause the disruption of lives, millions of dollars in property damages and economic losses to businesses. Project Impact, unveiled in 1997, is a national initiative that encourages communities, individuals and businesses to become disaster-resistant by initiating common sense measures to reduce or prevent repetitive losses. To date there are more than 200 communities and over 1200 businesses that have become Project Impact partners.
