MT. LAUREL, N.J. -- FEMA and State emergency management officials invite residents of the Lumberton area, who were affected by the recent flooding, to come to a Town Meeting on Wednesday August 18 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Lumberton Municipal Building, 35 Municipal Drive. Speakers will explain disaster assistance programs and provide updates on short and long-term recovery issues.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
