CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Disaster Recovery Center at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Sissonville, Kenawha County, will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 5. The church is located at 6823 Sissonville Dr., Sissonville. The center opened September 28 and by last evening had been visited by 38 people.

Once the recovery center closes, people in the Sissonville area affected by the Hurricane Ivan disaster who may still have questions about FEMA assistance or low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration can call FEMA’s toll-free line – 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
