MOBILE, Ala. -- The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) announced today that the Mobile County Disaster Recovery Center in Saraland would open with shorter hours Monday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 5 due to a previously scheduled county event at the Saraland Civic Center.

Monday, October 4
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, October 5
1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Disaster victims are urged to register for assistance first by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. The centers provide people with an opportunity to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
