San Antonio, TX -- State and federal officials announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center to assist those affected by Tropical Storm Fay.

On Saturday, September 28, 2002, the Swinney Switch (Live Oak County) Disaster Recovery Center opened at the Live Oak County Volunteer Fire Department at 914 FM 3024, Swinney Switch, Texas 78368.

The center is open 7 days a week. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be other centers opening in the near future in other areas.

Personnel who can answer questions staff the center; provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners. Some disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, individual and family grants, low interest SBA disaster loans, disaster unemployment assistance and crisis counseling.

State Coordinating Officer Duke Mazurek and Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Wells urge those with questions to visit the center.

"There are many programs available for homeowners, renters and businesses," said Mazurek. "This is a great opportunity for people to sit down with different agencies and get their recovery process questions answered."

If you have not registered with FEMA, you are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible. To start the application process, call 1-800-621 FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing or speech impaired.
