Program Performance Plan
Program performance plans describe the goals and intended outcomes of U.S. Department of Education programs and initiatives. Annual targets and strategies, along with measures for monitoring progress, are published in performance plans prior to each fiscal year. The plans also include actual performance data showing whether targets were met in previous years. The FY 2009 performance plan for this program, including program performance measures, historical program data, and targets, as of February 2008, may be accessed through the link below.

Performance Reports
All grantees are expected to submit an annual performance report documenting their success in addressing the performance measures and to submit a final performance report 90 days after the close of their grant.
The Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Program Annual Performance Report (APR) is available below. Project directors are notified in late winter/early spring by mail when APRs are due. The Final Performance Report is similar to the APR.
Past Program Performance
Final performance reports submitted by grantees in previous years are being used to inform program improvement in multiple ways. The actual performance results are compared to the annual targets established by the Department and published in annual program performance plans (see above link).
Additionally, performance assessment reports provide a narrative description of program performance for cohorts of grants. The current report is linked below.
