Multi-Year Flood Hazard Identification Plan (MHIP)

How is it prepared?

Creating the MHIP is a collaborative process, intended to strengthen relationships among States, regions, and other stakeholders, and encourage greater participation in Flood Map Modernization.

The plan is based on funding for Flood Map Modernization through Fiscal Year (FY) 2008. FEMA has allocated funds to each FEMA Regional Office based primarily on flood risk, using factors identified with stakeholder input.

The FEMA Regional Offices collaborate with stakeholders to determine the sequencing and planned funding levels for counties nationwide. The MHIP must balance national risk management requirements with local community needs.
