Curriculum-Based Programs - Fourth Grade

The education staff offers two programs for fourth-grade students, in addition to the residential Schoodic Education Adventure program:

Animals of Acadia (Fall)
“Food, water, shelter, space. Habitat is a wonderful place.” Explore two very different habitats at Acadia National Park. Discover how the state-endangered peregrine falcon and the widespread beaver have adapted to survive in the wild. Free.

Carroll Homestead (Spring)
Find out what it was like to live on Mount Desert Island more than 100 years ago. Includes an inside tour of the Mountain House and a look at the daily life of a local pioneer family. Free.

Cobblestone Bridge, faced with rounded cobblestones, has a stream running underneath.

Did You Know?
The historic carriage road system at Acadia National Park features 17 stone-faced bridges spanning streams, waterfalls, cliffs, and roads. The design of each bridge, such as Cobblestone Bridge, is unique.
