The 2007 DMC CONFERENCE brought speakers from across the U.S. to discuss reducing racial disparities and to highlight strengths-based culturally competent practice.NRCFCPs DMC Resource Center works on issues to reduce over-representation in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. Issues in health and education are also addressed. Currently there are two local child welfare demonstration sites through the Minority Youth and Families Initiative [read more on MYFI]. What's New in Research and Evaluation
New research and evaluation projects are always underway at the Resource Center. Improving Recruitment and Retention in Public Child Welfare and Training for Supervisors in Independent Living Services (Youth in Transition) are two significant current initiatives. These projects are in collaboration with the Iowa Dept. of Human Services (IDHS) and funded by the Children's Bureau [read more]. The NRC is also working with IDHS evaluating the Subsidized Guardianship waiver program [more news coming soon].
