AGENDA ON CAPITOL HILL
Nearly 50
preventive medicine physicians stormed Capitol Hill on September 30 to advocate
for issues that lie at the heart of
preventive medicine. As part of ACPM's
Advocacy Day, the College also hosted a congressional briefing on the
value of prevention that urged for a
more logical approach to scoring
prevention proposals by the Congressional
Budget Office.

TOUTS PREVENTION AND CHRONIC DISEASE
MESSAGE IN OHIO
On
September 12 ACPM President
Michael Parkinson was the keynote
speaker at an event in Toledo, OH where he
emphasized the need to align individual
incentives with appropriate health
promotion behaviors to help combat the
rising cost of chronic disease. The event
was organized by the Partnership to Fight
Chronic Disease (PFCD) and brought
together members of the local employer and
health care communities.

ACPM has
launched a new Environmental Health Blog
to share and discuss the latest news,
research and events on important
environmental heath topics. Initial
postings provide information to readers
about recent conferences/forums focused on
health homes and global climate change.
