American Council on Alcoholism

Mission statement:

ACA, established in 1953, is dedicated to helping alcoholics and their extended families in areas where Alcoholics Anonymous is restricted by traditions. ACA recognizes the importance of early detection of alcoholism and believes alcoholics are worth helping. ACA’s purpose is to help educate the public to understand that: alcoholism is a treatable chronic disease; alcoholics can be helped and respond well to treatment; alcoholism is a public health problem, therefore a pubic responsibility.
