CRMP Research, Monitoring and Mitigation Program

To determine and address effects of the 2006 Colorado River Management Plan (CRMP) recreational use limits and launch patterns on park resources, the National Park Service is developing a Research, Monitoring, and Mitigation Program. (RM&MP)
The RM&MP framework is described in the CRMP (pp 26 – 33).


 

The CRMP Research Monitoring and Mitigation Program is directed at identifying and evaluating:

  • Natural and Cultural Resource Conditions
  • Natural and Cultural Resource Impacts
  • Visitor Experience

AND

“Mitigating” negative impacts to park resources and visitor experience using the following management tools:

  • Resource Education and Outreach
  • Cyclic Maintenance and Site Restoration
  • Adaptive Management

Did You Know?
Camping on the rim within Grand Canyon National Park is permitted in designated campsites only and violators are subject to citation and/ or fine. There are vehicle accessible campgrounds in Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim, at Desert View and on the North Rim.
