The Departments of Education and Health and Human Services will co-sponsor an anti-bullying teleconference on Monday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at WETA studios in Arlington, Va.

"Take A Stand. Lend A Hand. Stop Bullying Now!" will raise awareness of and offer important information about the serious problems bullying poses for our nation's children, parents, schools and greater communities. Parents, educators, school administrators, health and safety professionals, law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals, and other concerned adults will learn about best practices and critical "next steps" that should be taken to deal with children who bully, children who are bullied, and the so-called "bystanders." A panel of experts in school safety will lead a roundtable discussion and take questions from the studio audience, via email and telephone calls from viewers. The panel includes: William Modzeleski from the U.S. Department of Education, Dr. Peter van Dyck from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Donna Mazyck from the Maryland Department of Education, Detective Tony Woollen, from the National Association of School Resource Officers and the Leawood, Kansas Police Department, Dr. Susan Limber, from the Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life at Clemson University.

ABC-7/WJLA-TV news anchor and former CNN anchor Leon Harris will moderate the event, which will be broadcast via satellite and Webcast at www.mchcom.com.
