For males, the homicide offending rate began at 16.3 in 1976 and remained constant until 1977. After 1977, the rate increased to 20.6 in 1980, before falling to a low of 15.3 in 1985. Then it increased, reaching a high of 20.8 in 1991, before falling to a low of 11.5 in 2004. After 2004, the rate increased, reaching 11.9 in 2005.
For females, the homicide offending rate began at 3.0 in 1976 and decreased to 2.7 in 1978. Then the rate increased to 3.1 in 1980, before decreasing, reaching 1.2 in 1999, where it remained constant until 2005.
