Secondary and Technical Education
Accelerating Student Success Through Credit-Based Options
Reviews programs where secondary students gain postsecondary credit while still in high school (e.g., Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual-Credit, Tech-Prep, and Early College High Schools).Adolescent Literacy Research
Will identify strategies for developing reading and writing abilities in adolescents, as well as strategies for remediating reading and writing difficulties in this age group.Bridging the Divide: Blending Secondary and Postsecondary Curricula into a Coherent Course of Study
Comprehensive credit-based transition programs blend secondary and postsecondary coursework and provide students with a variety of support components, including the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school.Closing the Achievement Gap
The goal of this project was first to identify schools and then to learn how schools addressed gaps in educational performance for minority students.Community Technology Centers
Creates or expands neighborhood community technology centers and provides supplemental instruction in reading, language arts, and mathematics for low-achieving students in high-poverty, low-performing high schools.Literacy Interventions in Freshman Academies

Community College Labor Market Responsiveness
Supports a project to determine how community colleges can become more responsive to the market and improve the quality of their programs.College and Career Transitions Initiative Supports a project to develop curriculum models in at least four broad, high-growth occupational areas such as information technology, health care, engineering and teacher education.
Adult Basic and Literacy Education
Adult Education to Community College Transitions Project
Identifies programs, practices, and policies that successfully facilitate transitions from adult basic education to community college certificate and degree programs.Adult Education Content Standards Warehouse
Collects and disseminates information on adult education content standards and assessments (state and national), and helps states use this information to develop their own standards.Adult Literacy Studies
Funds three surveys: (1) U.S. v. international literacy rates; (2) adult education v. general population literacy skills; and (3) changes in literacy skills since 1994.Center for Adult English Language Acquisition (CAELA)
There is a need to establish an infrastructure to serve adult English language learners in 22 states. The Center for Adult English Language Acquisition will help states establish this infrastructure.Community Partnerships for Adult Learning
