She has a bright 7 year old girl in the second grade who excels in school. Earlier this week she came home very upset and told her mother that she purposely got into trouble in class so that she could get punished. When asked why, she said that "the teacher has all the bratty boys in front of the class, and she only pays attention to them. She ignores all of us good girls! So I decided to be bad and she said that I had to stay in during recess. I was so glad. But guess what? She forgot, and I got to go to recess. I hoped that she would remember today, that she was supposed to punish me, but we had a substitute today. So I guess I will never get my punishment of staying with her inside the class during recess. Does this mean that I am not important enough for her to remember to punish me? She always remembers to punish the boys!"
