Pursuant to 20 U.S.C. 1412(a)(23), each State must provide assurance to the Secretary that the State has policies and procedures in effect to ensure that it has adopted the National Instruction Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) for the purpose of providing instructional materials to blind persons or other persons with print disabilities, in a timely manner. |

U.S. Department of Education FY 2006 Determination Letters on State Implementation of the IDEA

The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services released state determinations on implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for Part B and Part C for fiscal year 2006. Under the act, the Education Department is required to issue annual determination letters to each state on their progress in meeting the requirements of the statute. |
