ABOUT THIS CHART

Pursuant to 20 U.S.C. 1412(a)(23), each state must provide assurance to the Secretary that the State has policies and procedures in effect to ensure that it has adopted the National Instruction Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) for the purpose of providing instructional materials to blind persons or other persons with print disabilities, in a timely manner. Agencies may choose to coordinate with the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC). If an agency chooses not to coordinate with the NIMAC, the agency is required to provide further assurance to the Secretary that the agency will provide instructional materials to blind persons or other persons with print disabilities in a timely manner. (20 U.S.C. 1412 (a)(23)).

• The term, National Instructional Materials Access Center means the center established pursuant to 20 U.S.C. 1474 (e).
  
  
• The term National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard has the meaning given the term in 20 U.S.C. 1474 (e)(3)(A).

An X, placed in one of the two columns found on the chart, indicates whether or not a State has chosen to coordinate with the NIMAC. Data are taken from Section II of the Annual State Application Under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act as Amended in 2004 for Federal Fiscal Year 2007.
