DESCRIPTION:
Common yarrow is a perennial broadleaf plant with an
extensive system of underground creeping stems. Cotyledons (seed leaves) are oblong or rounded. The first true leaves are divided with sharply pointed
teeth. Leaves on mature plants are finely dissected, giving them a feathery
appearance. White or yellow flowers are formed at the ends of stems in dense,
flat clusters. In mowed situations, such as turf, flowers may not be observed.
Fruit are one seeded, narrowly oblong to lance shaped, flattened, ribbed longitudinally and do not open at maturity. Common yarrow occurs in cool climates and in areas of frequent irrigation.
