Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines
The final revised prekindergarten guidelines are now available, along with a web-based professional development tool which introduces educators to the new guidelines. The guidelines remain voluntary for district use and will guide publishers in revising prekindergarten instructional materials in the future.

TEA launches new web portals
The Texas Education Agency’s website has taken the first step toward providing information through a system of web portals. The general public now has access to seven new web portals, which offer the agency’s wealth of content in categories defined by audiences and users. The portals provide information for educators, superintendents, parents, students and the news media. A sixth portal will be home to the agency’s databases of information and the seventh portal will serve ultimately as the home page once a staged conversion to the new portal system is complete. The switch to the portal system was prompted by a desire to make the TEA website more user-friendly for all audiences.
